How to Sign the California CPUC Form

The full CPUC form signing process in the Skylight Lending platform — the Applicant's e-signature and compliance checklist, followed by the deal creator's own signature, through to final submission.

Who Can Sign & What's New

Eligibility

No more requesting access

If you created the deal, the sign button is already on for you — there's nothing to request. Eligibility resolves automatically based on who created the deal, not your role.

Note

Ops users can never sign the CPUC form.

Your CSLB license auto-fills

Your license code now prints directly from your profile onto the form. You no longer need to type it into DocuSign by hand.

Applicant Verification (Before Signing)

Steps 1–5

Confirm the Applicant's identity

Click "Yes, it matches" to confirm the Applicant's identity, then click Confirm.

Start verification

Click "Start Verifications", then click "Verify Number" to begin verifying the Applicant's phone.

Agree to notifications and request the code

Check "I agree to receive notices and notifications on my phone number," click Continue, then click "Text Me" to send the verification code.

Enter the code and verify

Enter the 6-digit code the Applicant received by text, then click Verify.

Click "Sign Documents Now"

Once verification is complete, click "Sign Documents Now" to launch the CPUC signing session.

Applicant Signs the CPUC Form

Steps 1–5

Agree to electronic signature

Once the Applicant has completed identity verification and clicked "Sign Documents Now," the CPUC signing session opens. Check "I agree to use electronic records and signatures," then click Continue.

Add your initials and signature

Click each Initial field as prompted, then click Adopt and Initial to create your signature.

Complete the "Before You Sign" checklist

Check all 13 boxes in the "Before You Sign" checklist, confirming the Applicant has reviewed each required disclosure.

Complete the dropdown fields

Two dropdown fields appear on the form. Select N/A for each if they don't apply to this deal.

Sign and finish

Click Sign, then click Finish to complete the CPUC signing session.

Installer / Sales Rep Signs the CPUC Form

Steps 1–4

Click "Sign Your CPUC"

After the Applicant finishes their part, the deal creator gets their own CPUC signing step. Click "Sign Your CPUC" to open it.

Note

Ops users can never sign the CPUC form.

Click "Start"

This opens your signing session for the CPUC form.

Click "Sign"

Apply your signature to the form.

Click "Finish"

This completes your half of the CPUC signature — both the Applicant's and the deal creator's signatures are now on file.

Paper Signatures, Status & Completion

Wrap-up

If the Applicant wants to sign on paper

Have the Applicant sign the paper form, then — if you're the deal creator — upload the signed scan through the deal. Lease Documents unlock right away once the scan is uploaded. Underwriting reviews it separately; if it's rejected, it comes back to you to re-upload a corrected copy.

Track the real status

The NTP Checklist now shows the real, specific status of your CPUC form instead of a generic "in progress" label: Pending upload (waiting on a document from you), Pending review (Underwriting is reviewing it), or Rejected (action needed — re-upload required).

Download once complete

When the CPUC form is marked COMPLETE, a download link becomes available directly in your Installer tracker.

CPUC form signed!

With both the Applicant's and the deal creator's signatures on file, the CPUC form is now part of the deal's document package. Once it's marked COMPLETE, grab the download link from your Installer tracker for your records.
